There is no specific problem (black lives matter)
“Problems are not specific, but they take specific forms, and these specific shapes make up the world. “ This is from A Course in Miracles. (Chapter 27.)
Right now, especially in the USA, the specific form of the problem is violence toward black people by white people.
But the problem is not specific - the problem is, as always - good vs evil, or as I tend to put it, Love vs Fear.
If you are a white human in the USA, like me, you probably are in thrall to some beliefs that keep you spiritually separated and ‘out of love’ from your fellow black humans - It’s not our fault we have them but it is our responsibility to understand them and dissolve them; only we can do that for ourselves
Are you feeling defensive right in this moment? Just breathe. We do not need to feel guilty or ashamed for having these beliefs. No one is watching or judging you right now and you don’t even have to tell anyone what you’re doing or what’s going on in your mind.
Just move toward love - identify these (often unconscious) beliefs and cast them aside - because there is peace and joy and fellowship of the spirit on the other side. These beliefs aren’t worth defending. They’re boring. It’s a whole lot more fun to feel close to other humans; to laugh over shared experiences and enjoy one another’s differences. And that’s what we are here on earth for. For fun.
Below are some books you could explore that might help identity and dissolve the beliefs that are keeping you from having maximum fun and joy. I would love to hear your thoughts as you go!
So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo,
White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo
How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi
Much love and fun to you!
